Viking Gate Parts & Welding in Richmond: What to Know First

Viking gate parts and welding in Richmond typically runs $280-$780 depending on whether we’re replacing a hinge arm on a G-5 swing operator or fabricating a new catch post for a K-2 slide gate. Most Viking welding jobs are completed in one visit; parts that aren’t in our East Bay inventory are sourced within 24-48 hours. We quote every repair in writing before work starts, under The Haven Standard Clause 1.

Call (510) 944-0953

This page is for Richmond homeowners and light-commercial property managers running Viking G-5, K-2, or F-1 series gates who need hinge replacement, post repair, rail welding, or roller and latch work done by a technician who knows the difference between a Viking OEM shoulder bolt and the aftermarket version that voids the operator warranty. If your gate is sagging, binding, or the weld at the catch post has cracked, call us at (510) 944-0953. A live person answers, 24 hours a day.

How Viking Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

  • G-5 swing-gate hinge pin galling. The G-5’s cast-iron hinge bracket uses a 5/8-inch stainless pin that seizes inside the bronze bushing after three to five Richmond winters. The salt air off San Pablo Bay works its way past the grease fitting, and the pin welds itself in place through electrolytic corrosion. We cut the pin out with a carbide bit, bore the bracket true, and press in a greasable flanged bushing with a zerk fitting angled for future access. The new pin gets anti-seize, not standard grease.
  • K-2 slide-gate track weld fatigue at the uphill catch. K-2 gates on sloped Richmond driveways, especially in the hills above El Cerrito and Kensington, carry their full weight against the bottom guide bracket every time they close. The factory weld at the catch post develops a stress crack where the vertical post meets the horizontal track. We don’t patch over it. We cut back to sound metal, bevel the joint, and lay a 7018 rod root pass with a 6013 cap, then mag-particle test the toe. The repair outlasts the original.
  • F-1 barrier arm base-plate bolt loosening. The F-1’s aluminum base plate is drilled for 1/2-inch lag bolts into wood or expansion anchors into concrete. In Richmond’s clay-heavy soil, seasonal moisture expansion works the bolts loose. The arm starts to wobble, and the limit-switch cam throws error codes. We pull the plate, helicoil any stripped threads, and switch to wedge anchors with epoxy backup. We also photograph the bolt torque spec, 45 ft-lb, on the job record.
  • Viking roller gate wheel flange cracking. The 4-inch V-groove steel wheel on older Viking slide gates develops a circumferential crack where the hub meets the rim. It still rolls, barely, until the flange splits and the gate jumps track. We stock the replacement wheel with the correct 3/4-inch bore and 2-inch hub length, but we also check the track alignment. A misaligned track caused the crack; replacing the wheel without fixing the track means the same call in eighteen months.
  • G-5 operator arm bracket weld separation. The arm bracket that ties the G-5 operator to the gate frame is a stamped-steel box welded to a 1/4-inch mounting plate. When the gate hits an obstruction repeatedly, the weld at the plate-to-box joint fatigues. We cut the bracket off, grind to bare metal, and fabricate a gusseted replacement from 3/16-inch A36 plate, welded in position with the gate supported at operating height. The gussets transfer load through the plate, not through the single fillet weld the factory used.

Our Viking Gate Parts & Welding Process

Our Viking Gate Parts & Welding Process
  1. 1
Call and dispatch. A live person answers, notes the Viking model and symptom, and schedules a technician. You’ll get a name and photo before arrival.
  2. 2
On-site diagnosis with documentation. We inspect the failure, photograph the condition, and identify the part number. For welding jobs, we check for hidden cracks with dye penetrant when the joint is critical.
  3. 3
Written price, no exceptions. We source the part, OEM or quality aftermarket, and write the repair price before any tool leaves the truck. Clause 1 of The Haven Standard.
  4. 4
Repair and test. We weld, replace, or fabricate, then cycle the gate through its full travel. Limit switches get reset and photographed. On G-5 and K-2 units, we record the amperage draw at stall.
  5. 5
Cleanup and record. Every job site is left as found. You receive a photo log of the repair and a written record of parts installed, including part numbers and warranty terms.
  6. 6
365-Day Done Right Promise. If anything about the repair fails, we return and make it right. No fee, no argument, no expiration within that window.

Why Richmond Homeowners Call Vance Gate Repair Richmond for Viking Work

Why Richmond Homeowners Call Vance Gate Repair Richmond for Viking Work

We’ve repaired and installed over 22,000 gates since 2014, and the ones that stick in memory are the Viking jobs where another company quoted a full operator replacement when the real problem was a $45 bushing and a weld that needed re-doing. Adrian Vance developed the documentation habit on commercial access-control sites, and it carried over: every Richmond Viking repair leaves a photographed record of what was found, what was set, and what was installed.

We’re an independent Viking service provider, not factory-authorized, which means we repair what’s actually broken instead of steering toward a new unit. We also service LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, Ghost Controls, and DoorKing, so if your property has mixed brands, one call covers it. The 365-Day Done Right Promise applies to every weld, every part, every adjustment. Name what you found. Name what it costs. Name what you left behind.
